Tactical Combat Casualty Care - All Service Members (Tier 1)

TCCC Combat Medic and Corpsman is the Tier 3 course in the Department of Defense Tactical Combat Casualty Care framework, designed for military medical personnel who are the primary medical resource for their unit in a combat environment. It is the highest level of TCCC training and represents the standard of care that military medical providers are expected to deliver across all phases of battlefield trauma management.

The 63-hour course prepares medics, corpsmen, and pararescue personnel to manage the full range of combat trauma presentations from point of injury through evacuation handoff, operating in austere, resource-limited environments where definitive care may be hours away.

Skills taught include:
- All TCCC-ASM and TCCC-CLS skills
- Advanced airway management: surgical cricothyrotomy, supraglottic airways
- Thoracic trauma management: needle and finger thoracostomy, chest tube insertion
- Advanced hemorrhage control: junctional tourniquets, wound packing in non-compressible areas
- IV and IO access, fluid resuscitation, and blood product administration
- Traumatic brain injury management
- Burns assessment and management
- Eye trauma management
- Orthopedic and musculoskeletal injury management
- Hypothermia prevention and management
- Pain management and pharmacology in the field
- Prolonged Field Care: extended patient monitoring and management when evacuation is delayed
- Casualty documentation, MIST reporting, and MEDEVAC coordination

The course includes classroom instruction, high-fidelity simulation, cadaveric or surgical skills training where applicable, and extended patient scenario exercises designed to replicate the conditions of prolonged field care.

TCCC-CMC is developed and maintained by the Joint Trauma System and is the required standard for combat medics (68W), Navy corpsmen (HM), Air Force pararescuemen (PJ), Special Forces medical sergeants (18D), and other military medical occupational specialties deploying in support of combat operations.
