Spotlight on Mochtech LLC: A Family Legacy of Innovation in Training Those Who Save Lives

Penn Tactical Solutions is proud to highlight Mochtech LLC, a veteran-founded, family-run company whose work reflects a practical approach to improving medical training for those on the front lines.

Mochtech’s story begins with Robb Mourton, a U.S. Army medic and trainer who served for nearly three decades. While preparing Soldiers for deployment in the early 2000s, he identified a critical gap in available training tools. At the time, there were limited options for realistically teaching procedures such as IV access and needle decompression.

Rather than accept those limitations, Robb began developing his own solutions. He hand-built early IV task trainers designed to better prepare Soldiers for real-world conditions. These initial efforts laid the foundation for what would later become the Multi Insertion Training System, or MITS.

The next phase of development came when his son, Wesley Mourton, joined the effort. With a background in entrepreneurship and a shared commitment to improving training, Wesley helped transition those early concepts into a refined and scalable platform. Together, they expanded the system into a versatile training solution capable of supporting a wide range of medical skills.

Today, the MITS is recognized as a compact and portable training platform that supports more than twenty critical procedures, including IV access, needle decompression, emergency cricothyrotomy, and other lifesaving interventions. Its design allows for use in both structured classroom settings and austere or field environments.

Mochtech remains focused on the same mission that defined its origins: preparing those who save lives through realistic, durable, and accessible training tools. Their work reflects a broader trend in both military and civilian medicine, where experience-driven innovation continues to shape how providers are trained.

Penn Tactical Solutions values partnerships with organizations that share a commitment to practical, field-relevant solutions. By highlighting Mochtech’s work, we aim to increase awareness of training platforms like the MITS and support broader access to tools that strengthen preparedness across agencies and disciplines.
